Prevent the use of fertilizer because it is toxic and runs off into these ponds or lakes. Manufacturers of fertilizer and other products should limit the amount of toxins they put into their products. Algae filtration is possible just as long there's not a large amount of water. There are water treatment solutions and limitations that can limit the damage to the environment.
When using detergent on your clothes, try to find detergent that is phosphorous free; phosphorous is a major cause of eutrophication.
Eat less meat products; manure is a major cause of eutrophication.
NEVER dump chemicals or trash in water. Report those that do to the authorities.
